DJ Beretta started her career in 1997 in the college town of Fort Collins, Colorado. In the spring of 1998 she competed in her first ever DMC competition raising ruckus with 5 of her DJ crew members. Although, not quite up to speed after only DJing 6 months before daring to battle she continued on and competed at the 1999 DMC competition in Boulder and Kansas, being the ONLY female in the two regions to compete. She has DJed all over country, opening for many local and national acts, creating and establishing successful hip hop nights all over Colorado from punk rock bars to large event venues.
In 2006 Beretta dreamed up the first ever Femme Fatale Show, incorporating all female, DJs, artists, fashion designers, musicians, and business owners. This has been an annual event for the past 4 years in Colorado. It grew from being at a small venue with about 15 women involved, to large event venues with more than 75 participants and 450 plus attendees.
In 2009 Beretta performed live with Colorado native MC Yonnas of The Pirate Signal at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT, proving to be a skilled turntablist and addition to an already highly skilled hip hop group. In 2010 Beretta was listed as one of Colorados top turntablist in Colorado Music Buzz Magazine and recognized for her powerful music selection and skills on the decks.
Beretta has been producing for the past 5 years and more recently taken production far more seriously. Just recently signed on with the indy record label True On, and non-profit Youth On, she has begun recording and publishing her beats as well as an eclectic but real lyrical manifesto. Her beats are raw, but powerful, creative but solid. She works from her soul, and you can hear it in her music.
Beretta has had local and national media attention for her profound dedication to the art of DJing as well as her brilliant conceptualization and implementation of shows such as the Femme Fatale Show.
"Beretta is by far, one of the best selectors on the planet."
