Mhyst trained classically on piano, violin and guitar from a very young age. She achieved her Grade 8 with 140+ marks, however she never really felt “at home” in that kind of music. From her early teens, she began experimenting with synth sounds and techno music, joining a techno and rave group in 1995. Her first synth was the Yamaha CS1X.
As time passed, Mhyst decided to go solo and write her own music. She got together the most modest of studios and began working on a new sound which spanned techno, trance and world genres. CD's were made and then discarded. Gigs were played around the local towns and she was invited to play WestFest. Mhyst was still troubled as she was looking for something in particular and still had not found the right blend. Exasperated and without any cash, Mhyst went to work in a nightclub and used the time to listen to the music that was being played.
After this "research" Mhyst got back into the studio writing 4 albums in total, “Prophecy”, “New Horizon”, “Acid Dreams” and “Neon” which were all trance fusions. The Acid Dreams album has now been remastered and released for the first time since its production.
2008 brought a new musical unity when she met Robb. In honour of his improvisational skills and great appreciation of her music, Mhyst wrote the album “Robb”. This has never been released.
Mhyst now runs her label The Fusion Room Records in order to release her own music, and that of a select number of "discovered" artists. She is looking for the step up and hopes that her new uplifting trance sound for 2009, captures the attention of listeners and promotion.
Mhyst is also studying Music Technology at University.
