DJ Peachez grew up in Amherst, VA and has quickly made a name for herself as one of VA’s most popular DJs. She has been involved in radio since age 17 when she landed an internship at Jammin’ WJJS, a pop station in Lynchburg, VA. While interning at the station, watching the mixshow DJ sparked her interest. She became disappointed when she learned that the mixshow DJ did not scratch or blend a capellas and only mixed dance tracks. She searched for a DJ who possessed the skills she wished to obtain, but was unable to locate one until she went to college.
DJ Peachez learned how to DJ during her freshman year of college at James Madison University. She became involved with WXJM, the college radio station, and one of the college students, DJ Storm, took her under his wing. He taught her the basics of mixing, scratching, and rocking parties.
DJ Peachez honed her skills on her mixshow at WXJM for two years before landing a four hour mixshow (10pm-2am) on a public radio station, WNRN in Charlottesville, VA. She was at WNRN for a year, driving an hour from JMU in Harrisonburg, VA to do the weekly show.
After graduation, DJ Peachez moved to Richmond, VA in July 2005 to pursue urban commercial radio and she has never looked back. Even though she was new to Richmond, her distinctive skills as a DJ soon landed her the prestigious position of on-air mixer on Power 92.1. She is the first lady DJ to have a regular mix show time slot in Richmond, VA. Her drive, passion and determination soon allowed her to become a member of the influential Core DJs.
Peachez has come a long way, but she is just getting started. She is a goal-oriented and driven young lady. All of her life, she has dared to dream big, and her goal is to become a business mogul and philanthropist. She wants to become internationally known as a DJ and talk to youth and young adults about the importance of education. Later on during her lifetime, she would like to earn a Ph. D. and possibly teach at a university.
DJ Peachez is the epitome of ambition, hard work, and dedication. She continually strives to become a successful businesswoman and a positive example for others. From her humble beginnings in Amherst, VA to first generation college student, to her rise to success as an on-air mixer for Radio One, she has maintained her humble spirit, strong values, and positive attitude.
