Petite stands at a mere 5 feet tall, yet is larger than life in any club she plays at. Get out the step-ladders and lower the decks because this trance diva tears the place up! Ms. Petite is not only sexy but has a fiery passion for progressive trance music.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Petite (also known as Lauryn) always had a love for music. \"I think my first love was New Kids on The Block. Ha ha ha!\" It wasn\'t until much later that she would discover her affinity for electronic music. Petite relocated to Portland, Oregon in the mid 90\'s and as a teenager discovered the underage club scene. \"I was so addicted what was mostly cheezy music. Ian Van Dahl, The Tamperer, DJ Encore, Stars on 54, etc. But hey, it was 1998.....everyone was into that shit.\" Her love for electronic music started getting more specific into the trance genre.
One night Lauryn decided that she wanted to become a DJ and that\'s when Petite was born. She befriended the DJ at the local underage dance club and he let her sit in the DJ booth while spinning. \"It was against the rules for me to be in there, so I would crouch down under all the windows so the owner couldn\'t see me, hiding in a little corner of the booth. After watching him spin, that\'s when I knew DJing was what I wanted to do.\" That DJ eventually taught Petite how to beat-match and from there she independently taught herself the rest. \"I would go to lots parties, stand in front of the stage and watch djs spin. People would often ask me if I was okay because I had this blank look on my face for about an hour. I would run home half-way through the party to practice djing techniques I witnessed that night. It was a very inspirational experience for me.\"
She got her start in the electronic music scene by DJing at some underage clubs/outdoor events in Portland and Seattle. This lead her to having a residency at a small club. After the club closed down her status was accelerated to the bar/club scene. That\'s where she played with the likes of Keoki and DJ Irene. Petite has since moved to Los Angeles, California persuing her career in spinning progressive trance music for the masses. She now has more grown up addictions, to producers like Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Marcus Schulz, Gabriel and Dresden, Kyau vs Albert and Paul Van Dyk. She has been working on a few productions and plans to start her own record label. Keep your eyes and ears out for Miss Petite!
