Born and raised in Queens, New York City, DJ Connie appeared in the house music scene four years ago and has become a familiar face in the NYC underground house scene. Connie has spun her eclectic mix of funky house, tech house, electro, acid, minimal and techno all over the world and alongside the most talented DJs, like Collette, DJ Ali, Sean Dimitrie, Nigel Richards, Mazi, the Hacker, and Darren Roach. Currently, she, along with her crew – EJC Collective (Elon and Justin) – spin regularly at NYC’s top venues like Crobar, Sullivan Room, Le Souk, Love, and Sol. Connie has also spun outside of NYC, in San Francisco, Miami, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Vancouver, and most recently, IBIZA!!! She will be spinning in Argentina, Brazil, France & Thailand during 2006. In March 2006, Connie had a debut performance at the prestigious Ultra Music Festival at the Winter Music Conference in Miami, the largest electronic festival in North America.
When she first became a part of New York’s dance scene, Connie was shocked to see how few women were DJ-ing the many parties around town. Never one to settle, she has been teaching women to spin for over two years. To date, Connie has had 15 students. In addition, Connie is teaming up with Halcyon Record Store to foster and promote local female DJs via an event called “Ladies’ Night,” which features a new female DJ spinning on-site every Thursday.
In February 2006, Connie was given her first remix assignment by entertainer and singer Von Von Von. The “House of Von (DJ Connie’s Jinxed Out Mix)” will be featured on a 12-track album coming out in early April. In addition, Connie and her crew are in the process of starting their very own label, called Cement Recordings. Connie looks forward to producing 2 more tracks in 2006.
