I love Music, what more can I say? I love to throw a party. That's exactly what I do every weekend, or week night depending on the club and what I am booked for. I treat DJing as throwing this HUGE party. I make sure that all my guests are having the best possible time ever. I don't spin turntables, just Denon or Pioneer. I have been fortunate to get to play on fabulous systems. The company that I work for owns a music store, so we get all the new gear whenever it comes out. Our nightclub also installs all the new gear whenever there is something new and I get to be a part of putting together the system.
I love to travel to other clubs and dance. My favorite cities to travel are, in no particular order: Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas or Portland. I find it inspiring to listen to other DJs, get to know other styles of music and listen to how they put it together. I always get new ideas.
It's unfortunate that where I have to DJ is a tourist area and I only get to play certain types of music most of the time. I would rather play club remixes of dance or trance, techno than anything else. That is my absolute favorite.
At the moment it's hip hop, and slow hip hop that is requested...but I am okay with that too..as long as my dance floor is packed, it's all good!
The way that I play is to incorporate all genre's into a set, unless it's a strict night where there is only one type to be played.
I always try to introduce new music or very old music to the crowd, something they might not have heard before. A couple new songs, a couple old songs, a few new songs, a couple techno songs, come out of that with some 80's hip hop, into some new hip hop...you get the picture.
I love the fact that so many times people come up and say that they "loved the music" - "we're shocked to see a girl up there" - "they thought that a guy was up there mixing" - "didnt' know that girls could beat mix like that" - "the music was so good I couldn't get off the floor" !
Well, that's about it for me. Oh, yeah ~ I forgot one thing, the guy that I owe my DJing prowess to is DJ Metalman, aka Brian Timme ( My fiance) He has been a DJ for 17 years, owns the nighclub where I get to play at least one night a week. He has been everywhere. DJ'd all over Seattle, Las Vegas, L.A., couldn't have had a better teacher or mentor. So Thanks Sweetie!
We also DJ together, so you can book the two of us if you like. We put on quite a show. You can go and see some photos and video on my myspace page. Check us out. We aren't extremely expensive either.. we love what we do!
