If there's a woman who just keeps coming back with hit after hit, complete with the actual pipes to match, it's definitely Emeli Sandé. 'Heaven' was more than enough to catch my attention and the Nu:Tone remix fast became one my favourite D&B tracks from 2011. Now we gaze upon her most recent release, Next To Me, and I've just been handed the Remixes EP, good lordy.
So my first move was to jump straight to the Nu:Tone Remix. Straight back on the Heaven vibe with beautiful reverse strings and a sweet rolling beat. I personally don't think it tops the Heaven remix, it's got a little more of a Hardcore Euphoria vibe but hey if you like fast moving uplifting synths, neon and raving compiled with a beautiful female vocal in your DnB, it's more than the right track for you. There's a massive New-Rave, vocally mashed and spliced Dubstep remix from single surfer Dorian and a fresh, feel-good, piano centric dance remix from Mojam complete with instrumental but oh dear do none of them compare to the track that grabbed me, from her own production team, the Next To Me In Bed Mix. Filters and verb, strings and echoed vocals, minimal drums and precision placed sound cuts... now that's what I call music.
Spread the love...
