Ultra Music Festival, the premiere electronic dance music festival in the United States, announced its initial lineup today and while there were not too many surprises, the lineup reads as a who's who in the world of popular electronic music.
Headlining the opening day of the festival on Friday, March 23 is German electro group, Kraftwerk, perhaps one of the most influential groups in modern electronic music. European progressive trance-house producer Tiësto will also play that evening as well as other heavyweights in the scene including Carl Cox, Skrillex, Afrojack, Miike Snow and Pretty Lights.
The second day of the festival sees the return of the amazing and talented, French producer duo Justice, back in America after a relatively long hiatus. Avicii will co-headline day two of the festival alongside Fat Boy Slim, Duck Sauce-which combines the deejay skills of Armand Van Helden and A-Trak, M83, Laidback Luke, Flux Pavilion, Borgore and Doctor P.
The final day of Ultra showcases producers David Guetta and Armin Van Buuren, Kaskade, Bassnectar and Knife Party.
One of the great things about a festival with the scope, and budget for that matter, of Ultra is some of the 'smaller' acts on the bill that are definitely worth checking out if you make it out to Miami. Flying Lotus, SBTRKT, Neon Indian, Big Gigantic, Mord Fustang, Little Dragon, Netsky and Jamie Jones are all great acts that may not garner the same size crowds as Tiësto or Justice, but can throw a quality dance party nonetheless.
Tickets are available now via the festival's website for $299.95 with more acts expected, including some huge names if past years are any indication, so snag your tickets quick. See you on the beach!
